Florida is known as the “Sunshine State”, and it's no wonder! Florida has great sunny days and gorgeous sandy beaches. If you are traveling to South Florida, I have five great destinations you should visit. No matter if you like shopping, sand, sun, or just fun-there's something on my list for you.
Top 5 South Florida Travel Destinations #1: South Beach Miami
Miami is the first city that comes to anyone's mind when you say “South Florida”. Miami is home to South Beach, which is arguably one of the best beaches in the world. South Beach has also been referred to as the “American Riviera” If sun and sand isn't your thing, there's great shopping and even better day spas. If you are a night owl, Miami is home to several great night clubs. If you go to South Beach, it is very possible that you will see various celebrities, as South Beach is a very popular travel destination.
Top 5 South Florida Travel Destinations #2: Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale, like Miami, has great beaches, shopping, and food. It's a little less crowded than Miami, and a little easier to get around. If you have children, but still want to hit the beaches, shop, and visit decent bars Fort Lauderdale is perfect for you. It's not as busy as Miami - but that's not to say that Fort Lauderdale isn't busy!
Interesting destinations within Fort Lauderdale include Butterfly World, Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum, and the Stranahan house. Shopping destinations include the Galleria and Sawgrass Mills.
If you go to Fort Lauderdale, you can have a great time and just hang out on the beach. You don't have to sight-see to have an excellent time.
Top 5 South Florida Travel Destination #3: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL
Hollywood, Florida is home to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In case you aren't aware, the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino is where Anna Nicole Smith passed away.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is on a Seminole Indian Reservation. The hotel facilities are top-notch and there's even a water slide at the pool. Everything is so gorgeously landscaped. There are excellent gambling opportunities, and also great food and entertainment. If you love slot machines, poker, and family fun - the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino should be one of your South Florida travel destination choices.
Top 5 South Florida Travel Destination #4: Boca Raton
Boca Raton is a very gorgeous and wealthy area. You can go to the Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex and do some great sight seeing. There are great beaches in Boca Raton, and even better shopping. If you like gardens, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is another destination you need to visit. If art is your thing, there is a great museum called Boca Raton Museum of Art.
If you don't want to go all the way to Miami, but want a family friendly and upscale environment, visit Boca Raton.
Top 5 South Florida Travel Destination #5: Fort Myers Beach
Most of my other Top 5 South Florida Travel Destinations have been on the eastern side of the state. If you are interested in gorgeous beaches, great nightlife, golf, shopping, fishing, nature, and culture - you can find all of that at Fort Myers Beach. Of course, like many South Florida destinations you can just hang out on some gorgeous beaches and have a great time.
